another long day at the office.
I must say, my humor has evolved over the months on pace with the false urgency of the work, although while I'm often amused, I am not certain the uppermans appreciate my candor. the uppermans being my as-of-now invented word to describe upper management...
The reality is, though, that doing climate work of any kind is driven by the urgency of the situation we find ourselves globally. So it becomes easy to throw work-life balance and self-care into the abyss while in wild pursuit of the high holy mission. As if we can work our way into heaven or something.
That aside.
I'm not interested in workaholism for any reason. It's not healthy, and frankly it's probably largely how we got into this whole mess anyway; our fixation with work, the industrial revolution, the idea that production lines are the savior of all humanity... seriously, just slow down. sit down. take a breath. It is at this point that I remind myself just how much we can all learn from the slowness of southern culture. And probably why I have been pining lately for the Georgian coast.
