As I was out for a walk yesterday, I found myself wandering deeper into a swampy area and realized I'm just not satisfied until I've gotten past a point where my shoes may or may not get really really wet and muddy. I finally got to a narrow passage between to bodies of water that was just muddy enough to make me happy and cause slight alarm that I might sink in further than I anticipated. Only then was I content to turn around and go back the way I came in.

As I was walking out, I then realized just how hungry I was, and that I had not packed a single snack. In another era, I would welcome this opportunity to take myself out to a fine establishment for a nice dinner. However in these times, I wouldn't dare. But oh the day when I can just hike out and go find a nice place near the shore and have dinner and whatever local beer is on tap, that will be a good day.

Until then, I will daydream about it.
