recipes for the week:
four roses bourbon in the mix of vegetables sautéed for blending into bbq sauce... a cup of bourbon, four cups catsup, tomato paste and some other stuff. it was the cook (also informally the sous chef) who was making it. he quietly enjoys teaching me how to cook different things. he asked me to pour the bourbon into the mix and it smelled absolutely amazing. I asked him if I could give it a stir and he said yeah, pleasantly surprised I remain interested in the knowledge he can impart.
salad tomatoes: grape tomatoes cut in half and mixed with a bit of olive oil, salt, pepper, basil and oregano.
a manhattan cocktail with woodford reserve whiskey and martini rossi sweet vermouth, a dash of bitters (or two or three) and a single ice cube. 2 parts whiskey to one part vermouth. i'll add the olive later when I actually have some to add.
basmati rice, steamed carrots, kale, onion and pumpkin seeds. curry, salt, pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper powder, avocado oil and sometimes balsamic vinegar.
