blue sky sunday

notes on a Sunday morning...

with all these different methods of connecting, how is it that I feel so disconnected? I think the digital era has fragmented and distracted us so much with all this overlapping connection that we lose the intent and commitment to have a meaningful conversation. Sensory overload precludes coherence.

it saddens me, as so many things do these days.

it reminds me of a scene from a movie I saw several months ago, called Horse Island. in the movie, a fellow (who rarely speaks when in company of his friends) is sitting quietly alone at a table in a restaurant eating breakfast. the waitress sees him, and is surprised, as she has been dating (in heartbreaking fashion) his friend and did not expect to see either of them again. she sits down to talk to him, and he asks her why she has given up on his friend, and she doesn't seem to know what to say exactly. he then says to her, "you must be really sad, huh?"

and that is I think how I feel too.
